131 antike Genome entschlüsseln die genetische Vielfalt der Skythen und eine alte Fruktoseintoleranz-Mutation.
Die Studie analysiert 131 Individuen aus der Großskythien-Region und benachbarten Gebieten. Die Skythen hatten überwiegend bronzezeitliche europäische Vorfahren, aber auch Spuren von Migration und Invasionen. Innerhalb der skythischen Clans gab es eine starke Endogamie. Zudem fand man eine schädliche Genmutation, die Fruktoseintoleranz verursacht und sich bis heute in Westeurasien verbreitet hat.
Die 166 archäologischen Proben umfassen 60 aufgelöste Y-Haplogruppen, darunter R-L51 (6), I-Y8542 (6) und R-BY87922 (5). Bei den mtDNA dominieren X4 (10), H1b2 (5) und K1b1 (5). Kulturell stechen Scy_Major (26), Scy_Major_Fam (25) und Scythian (14) hervor, daneben Waldsteppen- und Meotische Gruppen. Die Y-Vielfalt deutet auf eine patrilokale, aber gemischte Population hin.
Für Ahnenforscher zeigt sich: Skythische Abstammung ist vielfältig und stark endogam, was die Interpretation eigener DNA-Matches erschwert. Die Fruktoseintoleranz-Mutation ist ein direktes Erbe, das bis heute in europäischen Populationen nachweisbar ist.
